The US-UAE Business Council and the Nuclear Energy Institute hosted the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, in a discussion session in Washington, DC, where the Managing Director and CEO of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Hammadi, briefed the audience on the “Nuclear Energy for Climate Neutrality” initiative. , which was recently launched, in addition to developments in the UAE peaceful nuclear program, the corporation’s broader vision and future projects, as well as potential partnership opportunities with American business sectors and companies in the nuclear energy sector, which is witnessing remarkable growth.

During the session, the attendees also discussed the pivotal role of nuclear energy in both the UAE and the United States, in addition to the partnership initiative between the two sides in order to accelerate the expansion of the development of environmentally friendly energy.

The research also addressed the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), which the UAE will host next November for two weeks.

Al Hammadi stressed the pioneering role of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation in the environmentally friendly energy sector, and its efforts that aim to harness the great potential of nuclear energy, for a future free of carbon emissions.

He said that in addition to the abundant, reliable and environmentally friendly electricity produced by the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plants, the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation focuses on innovation and development of environmentally friendly energy technologies, using nuclear energy to accelerate the process of reducing the carbon footprint globally.

Al Hammadi added that the Barakah plants represent only part of the broader strategic vision of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, with the main focus now being on research and development in areas such as miniature reactor models, next-generation reactors and hydrogen.

During the discussion, the Director of Strategy and Planning at the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, Mohammed Al-Buraiki, highlighted how the corporation also provides consulting services, in order to benefit from its extensive experience in developing and operating new nuclear power plants, within an appropriate time frame, and in accordance with the highest international nuclear safety standards.
