Advancing Healthcare Careers in San Juan: Collaboration between Ministry of Health and UNSJ

The Minister of Health Alejandra Venerando met with the rector of the UNSJ to advance on the careers related to health in the province.

In this context, the official said: “Being able to meet with the authorities of the universities and the School of Health is essential to be able to continue advancing in the San Juan that we want and also to continue training the Human Resources, so necessary for provincial health. This meeting is fundamental to advance in the creation of the Faculty of Medicine, it is very important to be able to work together with the National University of San Juan, which will allow many young people to access this house of higher studies”.

He also added that “it is estimated that by 2030 there will be a lack of medical professionals in the world, so I believe that the proposal has to come precisely with improving these opportunities so that young people can choose a medical career and have a public university so that they can access it, this opening is important so that many men and women from San Juan can access it”.

On the other hand, Rector Berenguer said that “we had a pleasant meeting with the authorities of the Ministry of Health and the School of Health to articulate actions and exchange opinions to carry out a new career that would be part of the School of Health , which would be the creation of the Medicine Career, forming a study plan so that it is at the National University, providing an opportunity for the entire population and the training of specific professionals that our health system of San Juan requires.

At the same time, Ángel Pinto added that “proposing what is related to research and extension issues and also progress was made in the development of the medicine career in the future, for its implementation, it was a very productive meeting with the criteria where they should advance and to be able to materialize briefly. Each one is working in their area, in the conformation of the study plan and in the search for professionals who can teach the degree”.

Also participating in the meeting were the Planning Secretary, Dr. Alina Almazán, the director of the Dr. Guillermo Rawson Hospital, Dr. Jorge Girón, the vice-rector of the UNSJ, Dr. Prof. Analía Ponce, director of the University School of Sciences of Health, Esp. Lic. Ángel Pinto, Academic Secretary of the UNSJ, Mag. Prof. Rosa Ferrer, Secretary of Science and Technology of the UNSJ, Dr. Eng. Eric Laciar and the Secretary of Research and Extension of the University School of Health Sciences, Dr. Ana Naranjo.
