Adrián Serantoni, television and music producer, died this Tuesday followingnoon. He was one of the creators of Pasión de Sábado (América) and was 59 years old.

The information was confirmed in América Noticias, in its evening edition. “This happened around 4 in the followingnoon, he broke down, they admitted him to the Trinidad de Quilmes clinic. There they managed to recover it a little. But the information that reaches us is that he would have suffered a heart attack in the followingnoon,” said journalist Daniel Ambrosino. “He will be held at Av. Congreso at 5200, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday,” reported the panelist of the news program hosted by Rolando Graña and Soledad Larghi.

According to Ambrosino, at this time it is also being decided what will happen with the next broadcast of Pasión de Sábado – a cycle currently hosted by Marcela Baños -: whether a repeat will be scheduled or whether a special will be held in tribute to Serantoni.

Serantoni is well known in the artistic environment for being the producer and creator, together with his brother Pablo, of the renowned tropical music cycle that has been broadcast every Saturday since 1989. It should be noted that at that time the program was called Musical Saturdays, when the channel had the name Teledos. In addition, he, along with his brother, Adrián, was the discoverer of numerous tropical music groups, with which he also worked as a representative.

But without a doubt his greatest legacy will be the historic program that reflected the future of cumbia in Argentina. The first hosts of Pasión de Sábado when it was called Sábados musicales were Fito Cassini and Amalia Yuyito González. Then Carlos La Tota Santillán, Hernán Caire, Jorge Rossi, Beto César, Beatriz Salomón, Paolo el Rockero, Cristian U, Lisandro Carret and even Carmen Barbieri and Santiago Bal as a duo passed through that place.

In June 2017, the cumbia cycle – which today airs every Saturday from 12 noon to 6 p.m. – won the first Martín Fierro in history. “27 years on the air, it is a very special day for us. “Dad, wherever you are, you guided us on this path of the tropical scene,” Pablo Serantoni dedicated the statuette to the Best Musical Program of that year.

Rosita de Pasión was also very happy: “We are one of the most supportive programs on Argentine television. What a living Passion.” And Marcela Baños added: “I want to ask Mirtha Legrand, who watches us every Saturday, that she clap. Susana too. Long live cumbia!”
