Adoption of innovations boosts careers in cybersecurity

Segundo relatório “Capitalizing on the promise of artificial intelligence Perspectives on AI adoption from around the world”, da Deloitte, which reveals data and perspectives on the adoption of AI at a global level, investment in new technologies is growing worldwide: 37% of companies have already implemented AI, according to the same survey. This is an expansion of 270% compared to four years ago. As a result of this concern, new opportunities have emerged in the market – which have been attracting younger professionals.

At just 21 years old, Enzo Pimentel Nassif, for example, works in the area of ​​cyber security using AI and ML (Machine Learning) and has already received international awards for his architecture of tools in the area of ​​cybersecurity. AI moved from an “esoteric research topic” sixty years ago to widespread use by both corporations, academics and computer science labs.

In this context, cyber risk has been of concern to corporations employing new technologies: 23% of respondents to the Deloitte survey ranked “cybersecurity vulnerabilities” as their top concern regarding AI. The survey also revealed that more than eight in ten leaders of organizations using AI see innovation as “very” or “critically” important to the success of their business over the next two years.

Currently, Brazil occupies the 4th position (56%) among the emerging countries that rely most on AI (Artificial Intelligence), behind only India (75%), China (67%) and South Korea (57%), according to one study developed by KPMG Australia, in partnership with the University of Queensland, and published by the digital newspaper Poder360. According to the balance sheet, 50% of companies in the country already use AI, which placed the country in the “top 3” of emerging markets that most employ innovation. China (74%) and India (66%) rank first and second, respectively.

Nassif is a member of the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) and is a specialist in the field of cybersecurity and AI, acting in the prevention and proactivity in solving problems in the area of ​​technology, AI and technological security. He highlights the emergence of new careers in the cybersecurity field and with the development and creation of AI, such as: AI threat detection specialist, security data analyst and AI security engineer, among others.

“Additionally, innovation has brought to light opportunities such as AI Cybersecurity Ethics Specialist, AI Incident Response Engineer, and AI Cyber ​​Risk Analyst, among many others.”

Also according to the specialist in the field of cybersecurity and AI, the advancement of AI tools in cybersecurity has led to the emergence of careers that seek to defend against threats related to AI. Such careers have as main objectives to guarantee the integrity, reliability and security of AI applications and systems that use this technology. These would be: AI security analyst, deepfake defense engineer, AI threat analysis specialist, among others”, he explains.

Indeed, a balance made by the Cybersecurity estimates that, by December 2023, more than 3.5 million jobs of work in the area of ​​cybersecurity, with a lack of trained professionals to work in the segment worldwide.

According to Nassif, the growing interaction between AI and cybersecurity requires multidisciplinary skills, combining technical knowledge with ethical and legal understanding of the technologies’ implications. “Continuous learning and adaptation are essential in this rapidly evolving landscape,” he says.
