Adobe is making headlines for its integration of generative AI into its most popular tools, such as Photoshop. Features like generative fill have taken photo editing to the next level, allowing realistic elements to be added to a photo with a single click.
THURSDAY, Adobe announced that Express, its design app for marketing teams, was getting its own share of generative AI tools to help create flyers, posters, social media posts, PDFs, and more.
Concretely, Adobe integrates its beta version of the Adobe Firefly AI image generator, in Express.

When you create your next design in Express, you can easily generate the exact image you want to use for your project. You can also use prompts to tweak other aspects of your project, such as text effects.
Express has been updated with an expanded collection of over 200 million assets, including templates, images, video and audio assets, fonts, icons, backgrounds, and shapes.
To make it easier to find the best resources, the AI recommends custom templates that meet your exact needs.
New PDF Capabilities
“The new version of Adobe Express brings together the technologies of Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere and Acrobat with our Firefly AI models in a simple and fun web application that allows everyone, from individuals to large companies, to create content that stands out,” said David Wadhwani, president of Adobe’s Digital Media Business.
Other features include new PDF capabilities, which make it easier to import and edit PDFs in Express, and new animations that help give your design elements more character.
To facilitate collaboration, Express also has real-time review and comment functions.
Mobile version coming soon
This version of Adobe Express is available in beta and is free for all users on desktop computers. The mobile version will be available soon.
All of these new features make Express a direct competitor to popular design tool Canva. However, there is a fee to access Canva’s advanced AI features, which gives Express a slight advantage.
Adobe also announced Express is available to businesses today and Firefly will be available to businesses in the second half of 2023.
