It was five o’clock in the followingnoon on Tuesday when several users browsing the Adidas store in Mercado Libre found a surprise.
Sneakers and jackets, whose prices usually reached up to 20 thousand pesos, were offered for just over three thousand.
Hours following offering these real bargains, the brand with the three strips reported that it had been a failure. It is estimated that the involuntary super offers were available for regarding twenty minutes.
Several surprised buyers shared the posts on social networks and the journalist Mauro Albornoz replicated them on his Twitter account.
For example, an Adidas Men’s Essentials Insulated Jacket, size XL, was sold for $3,299 when its regular price is $20,999.
A men’s Showtheway 2.0 sneaker, which typically retails for around $13,500, was also sold for just $3,299.
What happened? From the official site of the German brand, they informed BAE Negocios that the virtual store “had an inconsistency that caused changes in its content, leaking prices substantially lower than market values.”
What they had not specified until the morning of this Wednesday was the number of items that they sold below their value or if they would cancel those operations. Several of the buyers of the super offers said that following clicking on “Buy” the operations went through the usual sequence and that Adidas was “preparing the order”.
