A new study finds that getting enough sleep can make men live nearly 5 years longer, and women more than two years.
As getting enough hours of sleep supports the health of the heart and thus affects, in one way or another, the longevity that we live.
According to the British newspaper “The Independent”, the results indicate that regarding 8 percent of deaths from any cause can be attributed to poor sleep patterns.
“The higher the quality of sleep, the more gradually all causes of cardiovascular mortality will decrease,” said Dr. Frank Kian, an internal medicine specialist.
He added: “I think these results confirm that just getting enough hours of sleep is not enough, you really have to sleep comfortably without difficulties and for a long continuous time.”
More research is needed to determine why men who got the same quality of sleep increased their life expectancy by more than twice as much as women.
