Adele is currently on the mend from a distressing ear infection that significantly affected her hearing abilities.

During her electrifying concert on Friday, October 25, in Las Vegas, Adele, 36, shared with her audience, “I actually have an ear infection, which is pretty grim. I’ve never had an ear infection before.” In a candid moment captured on social media, she revealed, “It is the most painful thing that ever, ever happened to me in my life. It was worse than childbirth.”

The Grammy Award-winning artist explained that the cause of her discomfort was a “rare water bacteria” that she contracted while on tour in Munich earlier this summer, highlighting the unexpected challenges of being on the road.

Adele recounted her battle with the illness, saying, “[It] is hard to treat, so I was on the wrong antibiotics for a few days.” Fortunately, she received the right medication that began to alleviate her pain. “I’m no longer in pain, which is great, [but] I’m a bit deaf in my left ear,” she admitted to her concerned fans.

Despite her temporary hearing impairment, Adele firmly declared, “there was no way” she would “miss this f—ing show,” showcasing her dedication to her craft and her fans.

Reflecting on her personal growth, Adele shared with The Face in a November 2021 interview her feelings surrounding motherhood. “There are definitely a few elements of myself that I don’t think I’ll ever get back,” she expressed, delving into the complexities of her postpartum journey. “More than anything, it’s the freedom of being able to do whatever you want, whenever you want. Going somewhere and not having to prioritize someone else. Whereas my number one priority with everything I do since I had Angelo, which is in life, in work, is obviously my son.”

Adele has boldly stated that she has no regrets about choosing motherhood at the peak of her career. During her heartfelt acceptance speech for the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at The Hollywood Reporter’s annual Women in Entertainment Gala in Los Angeles on Thursday, December 7, she opened up about the life-changing experience of becoming a mother to her son, Angelo.

In her speech, she admitted, “Giving, giving, giving, to a baby or a toddler, when they can’t even f—ing talk to you, your brain goes a bit mushy. You’re not stimulated very much. In that, I also got really quite bad postpartum depression, or postnatal as we call it [in the UK].”

Now that Angelo is older, the singer has embraced her role as a mother more fully and continues to contemplate expanding her family. Recently, she has candidly discussed the possibility of having another child with her partner, sports agent Rich Paul, who has adult children from previous relationships. “I definitely would like a couple more kids,” she expressed during a July 2022 appearance on the BBC’s “Desert Island Discs” program. “It would be wonderful. If not, I’ve got Angelo.”

Adele maintains a cooperative co-parenting relationship with her ex-husband, ensuring that Angelo’s needs are met in a nurturing environment.
