Eni and Engie were summoned by the Minister of Energy Transition Agnès Pannier-Runacher following thousands of customers reported astronomical regularization bills, reports France Inter.

The Italian electricity supplier Eni and the French energy company Engie were summoned on Wednesday August 23 by the Minister for Energy Transition Agnès Pannier-Runacher, learned France Inter to the minister’s office.
For several weeks, thousands of customers of alternative suppliers have been denouncing an increase in their electricity bills, some of them posting amounts in the four or even five figures. A Facebook group has even been formed, in which customers shocked by these amounts requested express their anger.

Faced with these accusations, the two electricity suppliers are protesting in good faith. According to them, this is a catch-up for customers who have subscribed to market offers and do not benefit from the tariff shield or regulated electricity tariffs which precisely protect once morest soaring prices.
At the end of Wednesday’s meeting, the supplier Eni acknowledges errors in sending invoice schedules to some of its customers when renewing their contract in the second half of 2022. The Italian company thus undertakes to correct the shot.
The Minister for Energy Transition has also asked Engie to deal with the most significant regularizations of its customers on a case-by-case basis.
