The German airline has recorded the second busiest booking week since the pandemic began. It is therefore planning additional flights to holiday destinations. Lufthansa might use Boeing 747-400s as early as Easter.
Due to high demand for holiday flights, Lufthansa is increasing its capacities on several routes that are particularly popular. For the Easter holidays, 15 additional flights have already been launched from Frankfurt to Mallorca, Madeira, Faro and Larnaca. Further frequencies from Munich are being planned.
“Lufthansa is currently recording high booking numbers for the coming holiday season,” said a spokesman for the airline. Last week was the second busiest booking week since the pandemic began. “And the weeks with the highest bookings are yet to come.”
Use of the Boeing 747-400 is being examined
On Sunday (February 13), Lufthansa confirmed to aeroTELEGRAPH that that she is planning Boeing 747 flights to Mallorca once more this year. However, it was not immediately clear when this should happen and with which model. The airline is now declaring that it is examining the use of a 747-400 on Mallorca flights for the Easter holidays. However, there is no fixed plan yet.
Last year, Lufthansa already deployed Boeing 747s to the Spanish island. Back then, however, it was the longer 747-8, which only flew to Mallorca on a few days during the summer holidays. First class seats were considered Paid upgrade for business class travelers offered.
