From July 10, a ban on the import of cement, alcohol and a number of other goods from Russia to the EU territory, provided for by the fourth package of EU sanctions, comes into force. Restrictions may also affect the transit of these goods to the Kaliningrad region, reports Sputnik.
The sanctions package includes exemptions for potassium chloride and mineral or chemical fertilizers containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. The document also contains a list of goods that can be transported for humanitarian purposes.
The next expansion of restrictions is expected on August 10, when the ban on coal and other solid fossil fuels should come into force. From December 5 of this year and in February next year, EU sanctions should apply to Russian oil and oil products.
Kaliningrad will arrange only a complete resumption
Kaliningrad will only be satisfied with the complete resumption of transit through Lithuania – the authorities of the region
The rest of the options will be a partial or complete blockade, the government added.
