ADB: China remains top destination for global FDI in Asia | Finance

According to a report by Asian Development Bank (ADB) announced on February 7, line foreign direct investment Global FDI into the Asia-Pacific region continues to recover to pre-pandemic levels, with China continuing to be the top destination in Asia.

The Asian Economic Integration Report 2023 said that FDI into the Asia-Pacific region increased by 64.3% in 2021, nearly 7% higher than in 2019, accounting for 40% of total global FDI in year 2021.

China remains the top destination for global FDI in Asia. Meanwhile, outward investment from Asia recovered 15.2% in 2021.

Cash flow statement FDI following a sharp increase in 2021 may decline in 2022 due to uncertain global environment, also said investment chapters in new super-regional agreements, such as the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Area (RCEP), can complement investment promotion efforts.

According to the report, data from businesses also highlights Asia’s resilience in attracting FDI. Investment in the green sector in the region increased slightly by 0.8% in 2021, following falling 40.9% in 2020.

Besides production, investment in the green sector mainly grows in business activities such as electricity, information and communication technology.
