For several decades now, there has been a growing interest in plants classified as “adaptogens” such as ginseng, cordyceps, eleuthero, astragalus, maca, rodhiola, ashwagandha…And for good reason, they are an effective response to support our bodies which are constantly solicited by our modern way of life. Let’s see together how they can help us, and which plant best responds to which types or phases of stress. Part-4

It remains to consider useful adaptogenic plants if we reach the exhaustion phase, but above all the preventive actions that we can adopt to avoid getting to that point.

Adaptogens of the exhaustion phase

Pedunculate oak (Quercus robur), in glycerinated macerate (MG). It is a great remedy which recharges the adrenal glands without harming them, and supporting the entire endocrine system. It is the remedy for convalescence and exhaustion par excellence, which has its place wherever the person has the feeling of not being able to “get back on track” following a difficult event (major surgical operation, accident, etc.). I do not share the opinion that MG blackcurrant is always gentle on the adrenals. I have seen too many people who have taken it for a few months without progress following a burn-out, and feel a real change following a few weeks of MG oak. This remedy also has a much more masculine side, supporting the hormonal system of aging men, notably prolonging their testicular vitality.
Ashwagandha. It is as suitable for this third phase as for the second, which is why we developed it in the previous part. You can also read an entire article dedicated to this very versatile plant.

Of course, the list that we have presented is not exhaustive, other remedies might have their place here, such as schisandra, cat’s claw, rosemaryetc.

When my SNV does as he pleases

You should not confuse your feelings as an individual and the balance of your neurovegetative system (NVS). This part of your nervous system manages its affairs in a way that escapes conscious awareness. Let’s take an example: you are invited to a friend’s house. After taking the time to chat over a good meal, they suggest you end the evening with a good film, a thriller that you don’t know. Well, while you’re feeling relaxed and surrounded by people you like, your neurovegetative system goes up a little more in ortho to each scene which contains an image representing a form of violence, which clearly illustrates, in passing, autonomy…
