Adama Touré, a graduate of HEC Paris and successful entrepreneur, has been appointed co-academic director of the Challenge+ Africa program of the 1st European Business School. In the exercise of his new functions, Adama Touré will work alongside Etienne Krieger, professor affiliated with HEC Paris, and the entrepreneur and Alumni, Talibi Haidra, thus succeeding Redda Ben Geloune.
With his expertise in launching, developing and managing businesses, Adama Touré will be able to share his rich entrepreneurial experience and offer future African leaders and executives the best tools at their disposal.
Derived from the Challenge+ program launched by HEC Paris in 1990 on the Jouy-en-Josas campus, Challenge+ Africa aims to train and support innovative entrepreneurial projects with high growth potential on the African continent. During its first edition in October 2021, 19 participants, including 15 project leaders and 4 co-leaders, were selected and presented their projects during the HEC Start-up Demo Day which was held in the Ivorian capital in October 2022.
For the second cohort of the program, 14 promising projects were selected, including two supported by a leader and a co-leader. Carried by 6 women and 10 men, they are part of diversified sectors such as fintech, agritech, health, sustainable energies, or even BtoB and BtoC service platforms.
Doctor in applied mathematics, then graduated from HEC Paris in 2014, Adama Touré began his career as a trader specializing in emerging markets. His time on the Jouy-en-Josas campus marks a decisive turning point in his career, leading him to give himself the means to have a greater impact on the economic development of Africa.
This commitment is illustrated through two complementary areas of action. As a seasoned teacher, Adama Touré shares his knowledge and expertise with current and future leaders on the continent. At HEC Paris, at the University of Abidjan or within companies, it offers them the essential tools and strategies allowing them to prosper in a competitive environment.
At the same time, thanks to his background in finance, this HEC Paris Alumni actively supports the development of local entrepreneurial ecosystems by helping public and private companies obtain the financial resources essential to their growth and expansion. By supporting them in their financing strategies, it contributes to strengthening the African economic fabric, thus promoting prosperous and sustainable development for the continent’s economic players.
His dual financial and entrepreneurial culture allows him to carry out large-scale projects. This is how he embarked on the creation and development of several companies, including TripAfrique, the Ivorian Cashew Processing Company and the Ivorian Rice Company.
Regarding his recent appointment, Adama Touré enthusiastically expressed his ambition to actively contribute to the mission that the Challenge+ Africa program has set itself: to enable African entrepreneurs to surpass themselves and fully realize their potential.
“With Challenge+ Africa, we want to create an environment conducive to the emergence of their potential, by offering them the tools, knowledge, practices and opportunities necessary to meet the challenges and seize the opportunities of the African business world. Our approach should not be a simple reproduction of what is done elsewhere, but rather be the creation of an economic model specific to our continent. ‘, before adding
“In line with the mission set when the program was created more than 30 years ago, I share the deep desire that Challenge+ Africa will become a real catalyst for unleashing the creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit of African talent. I hope to be able to contribute to this vision. »
His arrival was particularly welcomed by Etienne Krieger, also co-academic director of the program: “A graduate of HEC Paris, Adama Touré is deeply committed to the development of the entrepreneurial community of our institution, particularly in Africa and, more specifically, in Ivory Coast. His appointment thus reflects his commitment to the economic development of the continent and his desire to see African entrepreneurs reach new heights. I am convinced that his remarkable background, his experience and his humanism will be valuable assets enabling him to successfully assume the new responsibilities that will be his as co-director of Challenge+. »
