ADAC members report massive problems with credit cards

As announced, the ADAC has changed the cooperation for its credit card. Until now, the credit card was issued by Landesbank Berlin (LBB). However, it has been clear since October 2021 that the cooperation will not be continued. A new partner has been found in Solaris, which is now replacing LBB.

Last weekend the time had come and the changeover for credit card holders began. Technically, however, things are apparently not going entirely smoothly. ADAC members are reporting problems with their cards.

“I’ve been using the card for 30 years. After an hour on hold, they said: ‘The system is broken.'”

Problems especially with older ADAC credit cards

Some payments have been rejected or cash withdrawals are no longer possible since the changeover to the ADAC credit card. One affected person reported to “Focus Online“that he couldn’t pay with the card at the gas station.

Another person describes how she was unable to buy a train ticket with it. “I have been using the card for 30 years. After an hour on hold, they said: ‘The system is broken,'” she is quoted as saying in the report.

Actually, no restrictions were expected during the changeover. Solaris wrote a few months ago in the Questions and answers section at the time of handover.

But now it apparently does exist, at least for some users: Solaris customer service explained in response to a query from “Focus Online” that problems may be occurring at the moment. This is particularly the case with older credit cards. In these cases, it may be necessary to get a new card.

In addition, those affected may have to prepare for longer waiting times. One employee said, however, that it is not a “widespread problem”.

Services of the ADAC credit card to be expanded

Since September 17, Solaris has been responsible for issuing and managing the ADAC credit card. “With Solaris, we have found the ideal partner for the ADAC credit card program, with whom we can continue and further develop our portfolio,” ADAC board member Mahbod Asgari explained at the beginning of the year. It would be possible to continue providing services to members while at the same time further expanding the range of services.

The change should not result in any changes for existing credit card customers. The card can – actually – continue to be used as usual, as can the associated PIN. The conditions, which include the fuel discount and insurance benefits, should also remain the same.

Edeka has been in the headlines several times in recent weeks. For example, there was the campaign against the AfD or the possible abolition of the fresh food counters. Both topics sparked discussions, be it the politicization of a supermarket chain or its restructuring.
