Acupuncture may help reduce pain in cancer surgery | Science

Israeli scientists said on January 25 that acupuncture treatments can help patients reduce anxiety and pain during gynecological cancer surgery.

In a new study published in the interdisciplinary journal Cancer (USA), scientists from Clalit – the largest organization in Israel on public health care – asserting that the method Acupuncture can help patients with cancer gynecology (including ovarian and uterine cancer) reduces anxiety and pain during surgery.

House’s science conducted the study on 99 patients. They looked at the effectiveness of a unique treatment that combines acupressure and relaxation massage techniques before surgery, as well as conducting acupuncture during surgery.

The results showed that anxiety was significantly reduced in patients treated with this method before surgery, while acupuncture during surgery also helped reduce pain followingward.

Scientist Eran Ben Arye, a member of the research team, said the study showed “a direction for more innovative treatments for cancer patients”.
