PHOENIX (AP) — Ronald Acuna Jr. hit a 464-foot home run, Spencer Strider struck out seven over six outstanding innings, and the Atlanta Braves beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-2 Saturday.
The Braves, who had struggled recently in the batter’s box, had 11 hits to snap Arizona’s six-game winning streak.
Marcell Ozuna and Eddie Rosario hit RBI singles off Rhyne Nelson (2-4) to help Atlanta take a 3-0 lead following five innings.
Atlanta scored another run on a double play in the sixth inning, and Acuña followed with his 12th home run, hitting the ball on the concourse behind the seats in left-center field.
Strider (6-2) allowed two runs and three hits in a game that included four walks. Cuban Raisel Iglesias allowed a single in the ninth inning for his sixth save in seven attempts.
For the Braves, Venezuelans Acuña 5-2 with two runs scored and an RBI, Orlando Arcia 3-1. Puerto Rican Rosario went 4-2 with a run scored and an RBI. The Dominican Ozuna 3-2 with one scored and one produced.
