US-Swiss actress illegally received disability pension
Q’orianka Kilcher was unable to work due to an injury and was receiving a disability pension. Nevertheless, she took part in a series – the US actress with Swiss roots must now answer in court.
Q’orianka Kilcher (32) became world famous in 2005 for her role as Pocahontas in the film “The New World”. The American, who was born in Germany and has roots in Switzerland, injured her neck and shoulders while filming in 2019. Since then she has received a disability pension of around CHF 95,000.
Now the state of California is investigating the actress, reports Vanity magazine. Investigators found that she has been working on the series “Yellowstone” since 2020, despite the certified disability.
Kilcher is a member of the Oscar Academy
Kilcher has denied the allegations through her attorneys and has pleaded not guilty. Nevertheless, she will have to answer in court on August 7th.
Q’orianka Kilcher is the granddaughter of alpinist Ray Genet († 48), the Geneva-born Swiss-American died on Mount Everest in 1979. Kilcher’s mother immigrated to Hawaii with her daughter, where Q’orianka Kilcher also grew up. Today the actress lives in Los Angeles and is part of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which awards the Oscars annually. (grb)
