Actress Lyudmila Shestakova has passed away — Teatral

Theater and film actress Lyudmila Markovna Shestakova has died at the age of 68. The death of the honored artist of Russia was announced by the Sevastopol Academic Russian Drama Theater named after Lunacharsky, to which Lyudmila Markovna served for exactly 45 years.

“A great grief has befallen the Lunacharsky Theatre. Now we are unable to comprehend that Lyudmila Markovna Shestakova is no longer with us. Honored Artist of Russia, infinitely loved, respected, revered, incomparable. How can all this be said in the past tense? She acted, staged, created, lived in the theatre and for the theatre. A true star of the stage will now shine for us from a distant horizon. With that special light that will never fade in the grateful memory of the spectators who loved her art. How sudden. How deafeningly painful,” the theatre’s website says.

Lyudmila Shestakova shone on the Sevastopol stage in the plays “The Third Rocket” by Bykov, “One Hundred Miles Down the River” by Green, “Visitors” by Shukshin and others. The actress also has roles in the films: “Once in Rostov”, “Matchmakers”, “Let’s Find Each Other”. The actress’s directorial credits include the production “Daddy in the Web” based on the play by Ray Cooney.
