Actress Ingrid Steeger dies at the age of 76

She died on Friday at the age of 76 in a hospital in Bad Hersfeld, as the “Bild” newspaper reported. Steeger had a TV career in the 1970s and became a cult figure, but withdrew from active show business a long time ago.

According to media reports, Steeger was admitted to a hospital in Bad Hersfeld, Hesse, a few days ago with a diagnosis of intestinal obstruction. The former actress had been suffering from health problems for years.

Steeger was born Ingrid Anita Stengert in Berlin on April 1, 1947 and initially worked as a secretary. In the 1960s she was discovered by a photographer and worked as a model. In the 1970s she became known as the new shooting star of the soft sex film industry.

Known for the “Klimbim” series

Through her roles in the ARD series “Klimbim”, which became legendary for its anarchic humor, Steeger made her breakthrough as an actress in 1973 and became a cult figure. She later also starred in the successful production “The Great Bellheim” by director Dieter Wedel, whose lover she was for several years. The series remained Steeger’s biggest television success in the serious genre.
