Kochi: The Kerala High Court has directed the state government to complete its probe into the attack on the actress by March 1 and submit a final report. The High Court asked what was so special regarding this case alone and what was so significant regarding a witness’ revelation.
The DGP informed the court that further investigation was in its final stages. The Director General of Prosecutions told the court that the testimony of 20 witnesses had been recorded. The prosecution was responding to a court order stating that further investigation might not be extended indefinitely.
The court also observed that two months have now elapsed. The court asked how much longer it would take to complete the follow-up investigation. The prosecution told the court it had no objection to setting a time limit. The apex court had given four extensions to complete the trial. The court also asked where Balachandra Kumar was during these four years. The government told the court that it had obtained 81 points from Balachandra Kumar’s statement and had received evidence in this regard. Justice Dr. Kauser Edapagathu considered the petition filed by Dileep questioning the further investigation.
