THE Hollywood film world is mourning the loss of actor Tony Todd, widely known for his role as the terrifying serial killer, Candyman.
Todd died at the age of 69 at his home in Marina del Rey, California, Wednesday (6/11) after a long illness.
The news of Todd’s death was conveyed by his wife, Fatima, to The Hollywood Reporter, reported Friday (8/11).

“This industry has lost a legend. We have lost a dear friend. “Rest in peace, Tony, -Your Final Destination family,” said production house New Line Cinema, which produces the franchise, on Instagram.
Todd began his career in 1986 and has starred in more than 200 films and television shows. However, his most famous role and one that is embedded in the hearts of fans is as Candyman, the serial killer from the 1992 horror film directed by Bernard Rose.
His iconic Candyman role made him famous in 1992 and he continued to play the character in three sequels.
Apart from Candyman, Todd is also known for his roles in other horror films such as Night of the Living Dead (1990) and Final Destination (2000).
He also voices several iconic characters in video games, including Dragon Knight, Night Stalker, and Viper in Dota 2. (Z-1)
