Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi’s Institute of Arts and Crafts principal and sculptor Shahid Rasam confirmed the death of actor Shakeel while talking to Independent Urdu.
According to Shahid Rasam: ‘Shakeel’s condition was not good for the past several days and he was under treatment. He died in a private hospital during treatment.’
In his statement, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed deep sorrow over the death of senior actor Shakeel Ahmed and said that Shakeel was a great name in the world of art and his services will always be remembered.
Born in 1938 in Bhopal, India, Shakeel moved to Pakistan with his family in 1952, where he began his career on the big screen with the 1966 film Hoonhaar, in which he became one of the biggest names in the Pakistani film industry at the time.
