In the American series Emergency room, a pioneer in many respects, he embodied the central character of Dr. John Carter alongside George Clooney. If he put away the white coat in the mid-2000s, actor Noah Wyle continues to work for others.
This 51-year-old American, a great activist for universal access to health care in the United States, will take part, on February 10 in Monaco, in the “Dare to Bear” evening of the “Pink Ribbon” association.
Six days following World Cancer Day [qui a lieu aujourd’hui, 4 février, N.D.L.R.]therefore, this dinner at 300 euros per head and the auction – organized under the gold of the Belle Époque room at the Hôtel Hermitage – will make it possible to finance the research of Dr Florent Hugonnet, at the Center hospitalier Princesse-Grace.
“He is going to start a study on lobular breast cancers, among the most difficult to detect with the usual imaging techniques, explains Natasha Frost-Savio, president of Pink Ribbon Monaco and half-sister of Noah Wyle. The staging assessment, which is the series of examinations used to assess the stage of evolution of the cancer, also poses difficulties because the Pet-scan, used with the usual radiotracer (FDG), does not identify all the metastases. .”
During the clinical research protocol, in which 40 patients will participate, this doctor will evaluate the performance of the Pet-scan with a new radiotracer (FAPI), which seems promising. “This might help to better visualize the spread of lobular breast cancer,” Natasha Frost-Savio hopes.
Prizes for an Alfred Hitchcock film
Among the prizes to be won that evening, jewellery, watches, collector’s pens and VIP seats on the terraces for the Monaco Grand Prix. But above all, and cinephiles should be eyeing it, five photo prints and the original film of an Alfred Hitchcock classic, Courtyard Window, in which Grace Kelly played. Damaged, the support was completely restored in the 1990s.
Two days later, on February 12, the association – member of the Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Women’s Rights – will organize the “Pink Ribbon Walk” on the sidelines of the “Monaco Run”, a march in which will also participate actor Noah Wyle.
The one who also played Tom Mason in Falling Skies by Steven Spielberg or even Flynn Carson, a librarian who saves the world, in The Librariansis all the more touched by this noble cause as his sister-in-law has been in remission from breast cancer for a decade.
“Prevention is better than cure!”
“At this level, we even talk regarding healing. We will celebrate this moment during the march”smiles Natasha Frost-Savio who, twelve years ago, imported the concept from the United States and England.
For five kilometers across the Principality, participants will celebrate people who are fighting cancer, those who have lost the battle, but also their loved ones, those companions with a trying role.
“It will also be an opportunity to remember that prevention is better than cure. We will distribute a fun brochure on self-examination, an important gesture. If you know your body, you detect an abnormal mass, do a medical examination with a healthcare professional, hammers the president, before concluding: “A cancer detected in time has every chance of being cured.”
