The pro-regime Syrian actor, “Muhammad Khawandi”, complained regarding the low wages of actors, especially those working inside Syria, considering himself “oppressed”, stressing that production companies treat them on the basis that the dollar is equivalent to 50 Syrian pounds, as it was before 2011.
“Most of the actors who are still in Syria work in dubbing, due to the deterioration of wages by production companies,” Khawandi said, during a televised interview with the pro-Syrian news channel, stressing that the companies treat the actors on the basis that the exchange rate of the dollar is fifty Syrian pounds.
“Khawandi” considered that actors receive their wages in Syria in piasters, unlike those who migrated to the UAE, Lebanon and other countries, who take their wages in dollars and “hard currency.”
Khawandi revealed the nature of the work he does, to bridge the deficit in front of the living reality, pointing out that he is working today in dubbing characters in “Turkish, Iranian, Pakistani and Spanish” series, considering that “dubbing” has become a real outlet for him.
Khaounde considered himself wronged, and that he had not yet obtained a role that highlights his acting capabilities.
And “Muhammad Khawandi” is a Syrian actor, born on April 10, 1961 in Beit Sahem, in the countryside of Damascus.
Khaounde started his artistic career in theater, then joined the Syrian Artists Syndicate in 1984, and became famous for dubbing the role of the masked tiger, the famous cartoon character.
