There are actors who play violent characters, and then those who are a little violent themselves. And there are also those who are both, like Vinnie Jones, a British actor who appeared in “Scams, Crimes and Botany”, who ended up at the police station in the middle of filming.

Without a doubt, Guy Ritchie is one of the most noted directors in the industry: the Englishman made a more than promising debut by signing cult feature films like Snatch, Revolver, RocnRolla then Sherlock Holmes later. Recently, he also concocted the remake An Angry Man, with Jason Statham, definitely one of his leading figures.

Particularly original fact: the film begins the acting careers of two former British sportsmen, Jason Statham (who was a professional diver) and Vinnie Jones, who officiated as a footballer. The problem is that the latter had a reputation for being particularly violent in the field, a behavior that he reiterated while he was filming “Arnaques, Crimes et Botanique”.
From cell to spotlight
If Vinnie Jones never plays very tender characters – we can even describe them as formidable, like the Scourge in the X-Men saga – he turns out to be a real fighter in real life as well. In any case, this is the reputation he already had on the football fields and the filming of his first film “Arnaques, Crimes et Botanique” therefore did not help to calm the rumors.
During an interview to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the film, Nick Moran (Eddy in the film) revealed a rather juicy anecdote regarding the British actor. When they were halfway through filming, a day at work was completely turned upside down for the simple reason… that Vinnie Jones beat up a neighbor during an argument.
Vinnie got arrested in the middle of filming. He had gotten into a fight with a neighbor, but he really ran over him and Matt called me to tell me he had been arrested and we had to change the shoot. I go to the set and later, Vinnie shows up in an inmate costume even though he came straight from the cells to shoot a scene.
Ironically (some would say “unsurprisingly”), Vinnie Jones plays the role of a ruthless gangster in the film, which you can watch on Prime Video if you are subscribed to the Amazon platform.
