Actor? Arnold in criticism! “Bottom drawer”

Maximilian Arnold is one of the protagonists of the weekend’s exciting scene. SPORT1 expert Stefan Effenberg chooses drastic words in the direction of the Wolfsburg captain.

Also in STAHLWERK DOPPELPASS It was the most hotly debated scene: the yellow-red card for Stuttgart’s Atakan Karazor, which he wrongly received in the draw against VfL Wolfsburg. SPORTS1-Expert Stefan Effenberg talked himself into a rage when he brought it up – and criticized Maximilian Arnold heavily.

In the duel between Arnold and Karazor, it was actually the Wolfsburg player who stepped on the opposing captain’s ankle. Both had already received yellow warnings. Accordingly, Arnold should actually have been sent to the cabin – and not Karazor.

Referee Sven Jablonski misjudged the duel and saw Karazor as the culprit. While Jablonski admitted his mistake immediately after the end of the game and did so SPORTS1 repeated, Stefan Effenberg directed his anger towards Arnold.

He fell to the ground in a duel with his face distorted in pain, even though he wasn’t hit at all. According to Effenberg’s assessment, he made a decisive contribution to the false perception of Jablonski.

“That is very weak from Maxi Arnold, I really have to say that. The players deceive the referee, which makes things so difficult. “Of course he sees the reaction of the player who goes down theatrically without being hit, rolls around and needs treatment,” rumbled the former Bayern star.

“What does Arnold need treatment for?”

Effenberg continued to rage because of the Wolfsburg professional’s supposed acting performance: “What does Maxi Arnold need treatment for? The referee has to make a decision in a matter of seconds, but he makes the wrong decision here. The game that some players play in such scenes is bottom drawer.”

Arnold himself kept a low profile after the game and explained matter-of-factly: “We both meet, I felt a stitch in my ankle, that hurts me now too. What the referee makes of it is not my job to judge.”

A contribution to clarifying the matter looks different.

Im STAHLWERK DOPPELPASS Referee Jablonski commented in detail and was extremely self-critical. “When you make mistakes, that’s what annoys you the most. It was important to me to face up after making a mistake. As a referee on the pitch, it is my aim to make every decision correctly.”

Calmund becomes clear: “You have to throw him out.”

Reiner Calmund, on the other hand, advocated that the referee should be given the opportunity to do a video review even in the case of yellow-red cards. “Whoever came up with the idea needs to be examined or be kicked out of the association. That’s completely illogical.”

Meanwhile, VfB Stuttgart has protested against the impending ban for Karazor. Karazor himself also spoke out and revealed a conversation with Jablonski.
