Actor Adan Canto, who appeared in X-Men: Days of Future Past and starred in the series Cleaning Lady, Designated Survivor and Narcos, died on Monday, January 8 from appendix cancer, reports the American magazine Variety. He was 42 years old.

“We are heartbroken since learning of Adan Canto’s passing,” Warner Bros. Studios said in a statement. Television and Fox Entertainment, which notably produced Cleaning Lady, a thriller in which he played one of the main roles.

“He recently set the screen on fire with a powerful performance in Cleaning Lady. He showed the extent of his game as well as his vulnerability,” we can still read in the press release. “This is a colossal loss and our hearts go out to his wife, children and their loved ones.”

In Cleaning Lady, Adan Canto plays a gangster who decides to recruit a young mother who witnesses a murder into his criminal organization. She agrees to be his housekeeper in exchange for protection for her five-year-old son. The second season ended with Adan Canto’s character in prison.

Filming for the third season is underway and its broadcast is scheduled from March 5 in the United States. American media do not specify whether the producers of Cleaning Lady will have to reshoot footage or change the storyline due to the disappearance of Adan Canto.

Adan Canto began his career in music before launching into television in 2009. He has since appeared in several series such as Following with Kevin Bacon, Mixology, Designated Survivor and Narcos. In the cinema, we saw him play the superhero Solar in X-Men: Days of Future Past in 2014.
