This week Microsoft President Brad Smith met with the UK Treasury Secretary on the subject of the Activision Blizzard deal being blocked.

Microsoft President Brad Smith met with UK Treasury Secretary Jeremy Hunt in London on Tuesday. According to a government source, details of the conversation are not available.

Smith was also present at the TechUK Tech Policy Leadership Conference. There he was confident that the decision of the British Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) can still change.

In April, the CMA blocked the gaming industry’s biggest deal between Activision Blizzard and Microsoft, which is why Microsoft appealed.

“If regulators have concerns, we want to address them. If there are problems, we want to solve them. If the UK wants to have regulatory requirements that go beyond those of the EU, we want to find ways to meet them,” Smith said.

During his stay in London there will also be a meeting with CMA officials.
