The Epidemiological Report number 168 of the Ministry of Health (Minsal) revealed a strong increase in the number of people infected with coronavirus at the national level and confirmed the complex situation that exists in the northern regions of the country.

According to the information in the report, in one week the active cases of Covid-19 increased by 12,120, going from 10,020 to 22,140, ​​that is, an increase of 120.95%.

On the other hand, the incidence of contagion per 100,000 inhabitants nationwide is 111.7, which represents a new maximum since July 9, 2021, when the figure was 125.3.

The Tarapacá Region is the most complicated with Covid-19 infections, since it registers 2,901 people with coronavirus and an incidence of 731.3 infected per 100,000 inhabitants, the highest value since October 12, 2020 when Magallanes had 929.6.

In addition, its regional capital, Iquique, is the city in the country with the most active cases in all of Chile: 1,519.

In Arica the situation is also complex. In Epidemiological 167, the region registered only 190 people suffering from the disease, today that figure is 1,217: an increase of 540% in just one week.

In the case of the Metropolitan Region, in seven days its contagion increased by 149.46%, from 3,299 to 8,230 (+4,931).
