Activation – Watchmaker IWC pulls out all the stops for the Miami Grand Prix with Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1

For the second consecutive year, Miami will host a Formula 1 Grand Prix this weekend. An opportunity for IWCpartner of the Mercedes team, to put on a show and put on local colours.

The Swiss watchmaker first released a new edition of the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team. After unveiling this model at the Miami race last year, IWC brings new things to it by adding new rubber straps.

One is pink, “Miami Pink” to be exact, and represents the sunny lifestyle of Florida’s most populous city. The other takes up the green so symbolic of the German team. The case of the watch is made of “grade 5 titanium, a remarkably rigid metal”. Sir Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will wear it with the bright pink strap, as will members of the stable.

The watch will be for sale only on the site ofIWC and in the ephemeral shop located at the Jungle Plazaopen May 3-5 just before Grand Prix weekend, priced at 8 700€.

A basketball activation in homage to American culture

At the same time, the watch brand has installed a basketball court on the Jungle Plaza. This week, several ambassadors were guest par IWC. Behind the basket, a huge mural displaying Lewis Hamilton with the “Miami Pink” watch. Last year, the watchmaker organized a golf tournament in the presence of Hamilton and Tom Brady.

In the field, the seven-time Formula 1 world champion was accompanied by the American actor James Marsden and former professional footballer Enter Rolle to form the ” Team Pink,” wearing the pink watch. Opposite, the Canadian actor Telephone Liuthe American Olympic skateboarder Jagger Eaton and the founder and CEO of Doctor DREAM, Brandon Okpalobiformed the “ Team Green » thus wearing the green watch.

On the field, the two teams had to perform several challenges such as dribbling, lay-ups and free throws. All within a limited time of course. American actress Monica Barbaro was also present and was in charge of distributing the points.

To organize this event, IWC collaborated with Doctor DREAM. A nonprofit that promotes social change through STEM education and sports for underprivileged youth in Miami. Some of the organization’s children were also “bullet collectors” during the operation. Balloons from Puma, another partner of the F1 team.

The basketball court will remain on the Jungle Plaza until Friday and will then be bequeathed to Doctor DREAM and to the City of Miami by IWC.
