Yambu: Action has been intensified once morest violations of the law that cause environmental damage. 19 people were arrested from different parts of the country for grazing cattle in unauthorized areas.
16 native citizens and three Sudanese citizens were arrested. In this way, 451 camels and 35 goats have been caught from entering the prohibited areas. Cattle grazing is prohibited in extremely environmentally sensitive areas.
The Special Force for Environmental Security has reiterated its warning that strict action will be taken once morest the owners of cattle found in prohibited grazing areas and there will be no compromise.
The fine for the first time is 500 riyals if the cattle are grazed in other than grazing areas. A fine of 200 Riyals will be imposed for each cattle according to the number of cattle. A campaign was conducted to sensitize the public on the issue. Those who notice environmental violations should call 911 in Makkah and Riyadh and 996 and 999 in other areas.
