Kochi: Action against CITU leader Anil Kumar in Mini Cooper controversy. It has been decided to cancel Anil Kumar’s party membership. CPM Ernakulam district committee also decided to remove Anil Kumar from the office of CITU after the controversy over the purchase of a luxury car by the labor union leader. The committee which met today also decided to remove CPM MLA PV Sreenijan from the post of district sports council president.

Anil Kumar has already owned vehicles like Toyota Fortuner and Innova. Recently, Anil Kumar was involved in a controversy related to a Mini Cooper car worth Rs 52 lakh that he bought in the name of his wife. After the pictures of the vehicle were circulated, the issue was discussed in the party centers.

The requirement to lead a simple life also applies to CITU leaders. The district committee also assessed that the purchase of a luxury vehicle and the justification for it brought disrespect to the party. Anil Kumar is the state secretary of the Petroleum and Gas Workers Union.

At the same time, the dispute with the former president of the Sports Council, Mercy Kuttan, and related controversies resulted in the CPM taking action against Kunnathunad MLA PV Sreenijan.
