During the cabinet meeting, which was held today, headed by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Acting Minister of Health, gave a presentation on the epidemiological situation in the Arab Republic of Egypt with regard to infection with the Corona virus.
During the presentation, the minister referred to the average number of daily cases of coronavirus infection during the current week, as well as deaths resulting from infection with the virus, explaining that he had noticed an increase in the number of HIV infections during the recent period, reviewing the epidemiological curve of confirmed cases of corona infection until the end of the epidemiological week No. 26 of the year 2022, as well as the current position of the occupancy movement of triage and isolation hospitals.
Khaled Abdel Ghaffar noted the weekly change in cases of infection and deaths from the Corona virus, whether at the global level, or at the level of the Eastern Mediterranean Region, per million people.
During the presentation, the minister also touched on the executive position of receiving vaccines once morest the Corona virus, explaining that the total of those who are fully immunized reached more than 37.6 million citizens, while regarding 48.9 million citizens received the first dose, and more than 6 million received the third “stimulant” dose. Pointing out in this regard that the number of doses consumed reached more than 90.3 million doses, and regarding 53.8 million doses are available, enough to vaccinate more than 33.5 million doses.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Acting Minister of Health, stressed during the presentation on a number of recommendations, including continuing to raise vaccination rates and rates among citizens with the intensification of door-knocking campaigns, and raising societal awareness of the importance of obtaining booster doses of the vaccine, in addition to emphasizing the The need to adhere to wearing masks and to apply various precautionary and preventive measures, especially during gatherings, and in closed places, as well as emphasizing the need to receive a booster dose for everyone who has passed the last dose of 3 months, exceeded 60 years or did not exceed it and was suffering from any diseases that discourage the device Immunodeficiency, such as patients with tumors, and renal failure.
The Minister noted the efforts being made in this regard, including coordinating with global vaccine manufacturers and companies to obtain vaccines for “Omicron” and its metaphors, as well as providing new oral drugs for the treatment of Covid-19 “Molnaperlvir”, “Baxilovid” through Local manufacturing, and coordination with the Egyptian Medicines Authority in this regard.
The Minister pointed out the readiness of isolation hospitals to return to work at full capacity when needed, and to identify paths in hospitals for suspected cases to reduce the risk of transmission of infection between patients in hospitals, and to ensure that there is a sufficient strategic stock of medicines, supplies, respirators, vaccines, and other needs necessary to deal with Corona virus patients.
