The Guardian Matt Murray being on the long-term injured list due to an adductor injury, the Toronto Maple Leafs were able to recall the forwards Wayne Simmonds et Nick Robertson as well as the defender Victor Mete Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League on Sunday.
Murray will be sidelined for at least a month due to the injury sustained in practice on Saturday, meaning his $4.68 million salary will not count towards the Maple Leafs payroll until he is able to resume action.
Simmonds, 34, had 5 goals and 11 assists in 72 games with the Maple Leafs in 2021-22, his second season in Toronto.
The 21-year-old Robertson spent most of last season in the minors, but did well in the preseason schedule before being traded to the American League to meet the salary cap.
Mete, a 24-year-old former Montreal Canadiens defenseman, joined the Leafs this summer following collecting 7 assists in 37 games with the Ottawa Senators last season.
Sandstrom has the green light
The Philadelphia Flyers have activated goaltender Felix Sandstrom’s name from the injured list.
At the same time, they sold Samuel Ersson to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms school club of the American Hockey League.
Sandstrom, 25, missed the Flyers’ first two games with a groin injury.
Carter Hart got the start and earned wins over the New Jersey Devils and Vancouver Canucks.
Bruins recall Renouf
The Boston Bruins have recalled defenseman Dan Renouf from Providence.
The native of Pickering, Ontario played four games with the Detroit Red Wings last season.
Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery also provided an update on the condition of defenseman Brandon Carlo, who was injured during Saturday’s game.
“He is better today than we anticipated. We’re optimistic, but he’s not ready to play,” Montgomery said.
Mason Shaw with the big club
The Minnesota Wild has recalled forward Mason Shaw from the Iowa Wild academy.
The 23-year-old scored his team’s first goal once morest the San Jose Barracuda.
He had played three games with Minnesota last year, in addition to having tallied 52 points in 62 games with Iowa.
