K. Ravindranathan Nair is a film producer who has supported a lot of filmmakers like Aravindan, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, A. Vincent, P. Bhaskaran. Made 14 movies. A play called Poi Kanda Achani in Tamil Nadu was later made into a movie of the same name. In 1973, when Achaani became a huge hit, he became known as Achaani Ravi. Achani made at a cost of Rs 4 lakhs and made a profit of Rs 14 lakhs.

He built Kollam Public Library and Sopanam Auditorium with this amount. It is now the cultural hub of Kollam city with a children’s library and an art gallery. Achani Ravi’s General Pictures produced movies like Thump, Kummatti, Esthappan, Pokuveil directed by G Aravindan, Manj by MT Vasudevannair, Elipatthayam, Mukhamukham, Anantaram and Saryaan directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan.
While studying at Fatima College, Ravi entered the art scene as a theater organizer for his friends. 1967 General Pictures launched. He was inspired to make his first film with Sathyan as the hero when he read Parappuram’s novel ‘Anvechich Nadya Nilla’.
He was born on July 3, 1933 as the fifth of eight children of vendor Krishnapilla and Naniamma at Kochupilammudu Krishnavilasam bungalow, a prominent cashew businessman in Kollam. After the sudden death of his father, Ravindranathan Nair took over the business. Thus started Vijayalakshmi Cashews became a huge enterprise with around 115 factories in and outside the state. In 2008, J.C. was awarded for overall contribution to cinema. The government honored him with the Daniel award.
