Achaia – Tourism: “Respite” for hoteliers – What the bookings for July show

A few days before July leaves, the messages coming from the hotel industry for Achaia are very encouraging, since the “ugly” – touristically – June is largely covered.

“Peloponnisos” has recorded the levels, so far, of tourist traffic in the region, as they result from the Association of Hoteliers.
June, in relation to 2022closed with a 20% drop in tourism due to a number of reasons, such as bad weather conditions, the elections and national exams.

“In July we work very well and many colleagues record high occupancy rates. We can say that we will close with a small increase, compared to last year, and this concerns a lot of domestic tourism” says the vice-president of Achaia hoteliers Christos Kanellis to the “Peloponnisos” newspaper.

Information states that an important factor for the increase registered by the Prefecture is the accommodation priceswhich are clearly better than the “hot” numbers that exist on popular islands, while the cost of ferry tickets must be added to the equation, which has skyrocketed, resulting in a large shift to mainland destinations.

Traditionally August it is expected to be a good month, touristically, with many hotel units being full – and based on reservations that have already been made. However, there are still questions about September. Regarding nationalities of foreign tourists, in the region, and in particular in Aegialia, they are mainly French and German.

Groups from Poland have arrived in Achaia and many from Romania, while for the first time after years tourists are also coming from Israel, which is also a big reservoir of tourism.

However are absentn -because of the war in Ukraine- tourists from Baltic countries.
