Siva Raman, a political activist accused of raping a minor girl in a fake NCC camp in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, committed suicide by consuming poison. Shivaraman was arrested along with 5 other accused.
He was seriously injured while trying to escape arrest and is being treated in hospital. Shivaraman committed suicide in a government hospital in Salem district of Tamil Nadu.
Shivaraman belonged to a political party called Tamil Kachi. He was very active in politics. Shivaraman, 30, broke his leg when he fell on the road when he tried to flee during a police raid on August 18.
The doctors told the police that Sivaraman had taken poison last month due to domestic disputes and was treated in the hospital for eight or ten times.
