Accused of luring a teenager: Christophe Normand released by the Alouettes

Accused of luring a teenage girl in order to commit an act of a sexual nature, fullback Christophe Normand was released by the Montreal Alouettes on Wednesday.

The Sparrows finally chose to part with the services of the 30-year-old Quebecer, following having suspended him until further notice on Friday. The former Université Laval Rouge et Or signed a two-year contract with the team in April.

The Sûreté du Québec arrested Normand on charges of luring and inciting sexual contact with a minor last Thursday. He pleaded not guilty to the charges once morest him that same day, before being released.

Normand was in his third season with the Alouettes, following four campaigns with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In 10 games in 2022, he made just one tackle and had 26 yards.
