Los Angeles (AFP) – Instagram said Thursday it blocked rapper Kanye West, known as “Ye”, from using his account for 24 hours for violating the social network’s harassment policy, amid his acrimonious divorce from reality star Kim Kardashian.
The 44-year-old singer has been talked regarding in recent weeks for several publications attacking comedian Pete Davidson, who happens to be the boyfriend of his ex-wife.
Kanye West, now officially divorced from Kim Kardashian, has publicly called on his ex to reconcile. The latter urged him to keep their family matters private, to no avail. The singer, for example, spoke regarding the custody of their children.
An Instagram spokeswoman told AFP that Kanye West might not post, comment or send private messages on the social network for 24 hours.
The social network also deleted content – without saying which – from its account because it considered it violated its rules on hate speech, bullying and harassment.
According to American media, this is a publication in which he insulted the host Trevor Noah. The latter had judged that Kanye West was becoming “more and more aggressive in the way he tries to recover Kim”, referring in particular to a clip where he stages himself with the apparently severed head of Pete Davidson.
“You may not feel sorry for Kim because she’s rich and famous,” said Trevor Noah, speaking to his audience. “But what happens to her is terrifying to watch and it sheds a harsh light on what so many women go through when they choose to leave” their partner.
Instagram has reserved the right to take additional action regarding Kanye West’s account in the event of further violations.
