Accuracy – Lent: How much will you buy lagana and halva this year – VIDEO – 2024-07-05 17:35:09

Lent prices, in view of Clean Monday, have risen for another year.

The president of INKA, Giorgos Lehouritis, spoke about this phenomenon.

“The lagana that they say will cost 2.5 euros is the frozen lagana, and not the fresh one, which will be sold from 3.5 euros for 750 grams. It will reach 4.5 euros in some cases. In the rest of the cases, it will either be 2.5 euros for 500 g. or it will be frozen that some astute people sell it. This is what the president of the bakers’ guild and the bakeries say. I don’t know where Mr. Skrekas gets his information from, I don’t want to lie to the world, everyone is judged,” he initially told MEGA.

The prices

Halva 400 gr. (vanilla or cocoa)
2023: 2,36 €
2024: 3,45 €
Increase: 46.2%

Halva 400 gr. (with almond)
2023: 2,60 €
2024: 3,78 €
Increase: 45.4%

Eggplant salad (250 g.)
2023: 1,06 €
2024: 2,36 €
Increase: 122.6%

Taramos salad (450 g.)
2023: 1,74 €
2024: 3,44 €
Increase: 97.7%

Simple lagana (750 g.)
2023: 3 € – 3,50€
2024: 3,15 € – 3,70 €
Increase: Up to 5%

Mr. Lehouritis continued by saying: “It is not only the price of lagana, it is also the Lenten ointments that have increased by 128%. Increases are a matter of accuracy, profiteering and speculation. They can’t have these prices. The worst is the quality of the products. When they get to the point of selling frozen for fresh, that’s a shame.”
