Accumulation of pensions in the II stage: how much and what should be released | Business

At the moment, when accumulating in the second-tier pension fund in Lithuania, it is impossible to withdraw the accumulated funds ahead of time, even if there are very important reasons.

After the Constitutional Court announced in March that this is against the Constitution, the opposition proposed at least several options when it would be possible to withdraw the accumulated funds from the II tier pension fund ahead of time. This week, the ruling party also presented its vision.

In the draft law registered by the Elder Mindaugas Lingės of the Fatherland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats faction, together with several conservatives, which the Seimas has already accepted for consideration, it is provided that early permission should be given in three cases: if they have been assigned palliative care, they have a serious illness, or 70% disability.

M. Lingė speaking 15min in the program “Kas teisus?” did not rule out the possibility that more conditions for withdrawing the accumulated funds ahead of time may arise during the debate in the Seimas. Meanwhile, Irena Segalovičienė, the chief advisor of President Gitanas Nausėda, stated in the program that the current ruling majority is delaying the adoption of this decision and will not make any further corrections.

“It’s a pity, but we really hoped that this work would be done – it didn’t happen, people’s wishes were not met,” said the presidential adviser.

– First, I will ask a short question, to which I ask you to answer only Yes or No, and then we will discuss in more detail. Should residents be allowed to withdraw funds from Tier II pension funds early only for reasons related to serious health problems?

I. Segalovičienė. Yes.

M. Linge. Yes. And a few more reasons.
