The president of the Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea (UFDG) was at the conference on the prosperity of Africa which was held from January 26 to 28 in Accra. The goal is to find solutions in order to make the African Intercontinental Free Trade Area (ZLECAF) effective.
According to Cellou Dalein Diallo, the conference brought together more than a hundred business leaders, politicians, diplomats and dozens of experts, under the theme “ZLECAF: From ambition to action: promoting prosperity through continental trade”.
The participants developed the opportunities that ZLECAF will offer to Africa when it becomes effective and the constraints to be lifted for it to be so very quickly.
“The modernization of infrastructure, in particular transport and telecoms, the increase in energy supply, agricultural production, industrialization, vocational training, digitalization, harmonization of national legislation and the free movement of people , were the main challenges to be met to make intra-African trade prosperous, and the ZLECAF, an effective source of wealth creation for Africa”, added the leader of the UFDG.
During this meeting chaired by the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo, recommendations were formulated for the attention of African Heads of State for the removal of the identified constraints.
Also present at this meeting was the former President of Niger, Mahamadou Issoufou, champion of the ZLECAF, and the Secretary General of the ZLECAF, Wamkele Mene.
