Accounts less red than expected for La Chaux-de-Fonds

The City of La Chaux-de-Fonds is not doing any better, but it is doing less badly than expected. This is how we might summarize the presentation this Wednesday of the 2021 accounts by the Municipal Council. The financial result for the past year shows a deficit of 10.3 million francs. Developed in the midst of a pandemic with gloomy prospects, the budget provided for a loss of 20.1 million, or double.

This is not the time for bluster, however. Once the extraordinary financial operations have been accounted for, the City observes that the results of the last two years are very similar. The structural deficit remains, even if expenses are under control. The City is also working to restore its image for more revenue. Jean-Daniel Jeanneret municipal councilor:

The file of geotopographic charges is currently in the hands of the Grand Council, which will have to consider in the coming months an initiative asking for another distribution of this federal windfall to the high-altitude municipalities of the canton of which La Chaux-de-Fonds is a part. .

The General Council will examine the 2021 accounts during its meeting on June 21. /lre
