The Musk-Trump Connection: A Billionaire’s Playground

Well, well, well! Just when you thought the headlines couldn’t get any juicier, along comes Elon Musk, stage left, possibly with a Rocky theme playing in the background. You’d think with all the money in the world, he’d be concentrating on launching a new model of Tesla or figuring out how to get to Mars without any pesky stops at a motel. However, it seems the billionaire is too busy playing political puppet master. Who knew SpaceX stood for “Space for X-rated Political Shenanigans”?

Unconditional Support: A Billionaire’s Love Affair with Politics

Our favorite South African entrepreneur who has now become a naturalized citizen of the USA is back in the spotlight, and, trust me, he’s not just launching rockets anymore. He has been seen practically smothering Donald Trump with the kind of affection usually reserved for first pettings. Just a few weeks ago, Musk splashed out $118 million—or as I like to call it, a week’s worth of salary for a billionaire—to help prop up Trump’s campaign. Because nothing says “democracy” quite like a billionaire buying elections! It’s like a game of Monopoly, but this time, no one gets to go to jail; they just change the rules of the game!

And let’s not gloss over the fact that he’s not just donating from the safety of his hot tub in a secret lair; he’s out there like a wannabe rockstar in Pennsylvania, conducting political rallies. Is somebody planning on adding “Political Rally Rockstar” to his résumé? Next stop – Musk on Ice!

Lottery Madness: Are We in Vegas?

And what’s this about a million-dollar lottery? Apparently, he decided it was about time to raffle off some semblance of democracy. “Buy a vote, win a prize!” I can hear the marketing team already pitching that tagline! But alas, the Ministry of Justice isn’t laughing, and we all know that in the political arena, when the rubber meets the road, the last thing you want is a bunch of lawyers showing up with frowny faces!

Kamala Harris’s running mate saw through the smoke and mirrors and accused Musk of trying to “buy an election,” which is like saying the sky is blue. Could we have a future where Musk threads an electric silk road to the White House as Trump’s right-hand man? Now that’s a ticket I’d pay to see – half tech conference, half fashion show!

Putin and Musk: An Unlikely Duo

Oh, and let’s not forget about those secret calls with Vladimir Putin. I mean, true friendship is built on the solid foundation of “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.” And whilst the Russian president’s spokesperson has uttered the classic line of, “That’s completely false,” it does raise eyebrows. Is Elon too busy playing international chess with rockets while trying to figure out how to sell Tesla on Mars?

A Future at Stake: Musk’s Mission

In all seriousness, Musk claims, “The future of America, the future of civilization is at stake.” With stakes this high, why do I feel like I’m watching the worst Netflix political drama ever produced? Will the next episode feature Musk donning a superhero cape, flying around, and saving democracy one Twitter post at a time?

The Financial Juggernaut

For all his grand gestures, let’s not ignore the alarming sound of alarm bells ringing in the ears of the less-than-thrilled citizens. The amount of cash Musk is throwing around has experts stating it’s “staggering.” But the question remains: can money truly buy political allegiance? Or are we just one infamous tweet away from witnessing the collapse of political norms as we know them?

If I were you, I’d hold on tight because it looks like we’re cruising for a bumpy ride ahead in the American political landscape. Buckle up, folks! Who knew we’d be witnessing a billionaire’s attempt to rewrite the rules of democracy as if he were coding a new app?

Billionaire Elon Musk, unconditional support of Donald Trump, is at the heart of a new controversy on Friday October 25 after the publication of press information reporting his regular contacts with Vladimir Putin.

Their conversations touched on personal themes, but also geopolitical or commercial ones, according to Western and Russian sources cited by the newspaper.

In the home stretch of the American presidential campaign, the boss of SpaceX and Tesla is omnipresent, displaying a clear desire to influence international decisions.

“Millions to buy an election”

Since his surging participation in a Donald Trump meeting at the beginning of October, the man who also owns X, formerly Twitter, has not hesitated to pour millions of dollars into the campaign – 118 million according to the latest figures, or approximately 109 million euros.

And in recent days, as if he were a candidate himself, he has increased the number of public meetings in the key state of Pennsylvania and launched a daily million-dollar lottery, which earned him a warning from the Ministry of Justice.

Furthermore, the South African businessman, a naturalized American, continues to use the X platform to share political messages with his 202 million subscribers, several of whom relay conspiracy theories.

Tim Walz, Kamala Harris’ running mate, accused Elon Musk of “spending millions to help Trump buy an election” and even suggested he could be the Republican candidate’s real running mate.

Elon Musk’s influence is causing increased concern in the United States, especially since he holds top secret clearance due to his activities with SpaceX, which launches rockets for NASA and the Pentagon.

According to the American daily, his alleged secret contacts with Vladimir Putin “raise potential national security concerns among some members of the current administration.”

“This is absolutely false information published in the newspaper,” assured the spokesperson for the Russian presidency, Dmitri Peskov, adding that Vladimir Putin and Elon Musk had had “a single contact” dating from “before 2022”.

Elon Musk declined to comment, but has previously said his companies have “probably done more to harm Russian interests than any other.”

“The future of civilization is at stake”

If Donald Trump wins in November, he has pledged to appoint Elon Musk to head a commission charged with reducing bureaucracy and waste in government.

“I am politically active now because I think the future of America, the future of civilization is at stake,” explains the billionaire during the public meetings he organizes.

For him, the values defended by Donald Trump are not “right-wing values, as is often said”, but the “fundamental values” of America.

For Adav Noti, of the Campaign Legal Center association, which defends the transparency of electoral financing and respect for the laws, “it is extremely problematic that the richest man in the world can throw his money out the window in an attempt to directly influence the outcome of this election.

“This is not how our democracy should work,” he added.

The amount of money spent by Elon Musk is in fact “staggering,” Larry Sabato, professor at the University of Virginia, told AFP.

“Whether the money is well spent is another matter,” he said. “The super-rich often think that money is the answer to everything, but that’s not the case.”
