According to the survey, SPÖ would be in first place with Doskozil

In the SPÖ leadership discussion, a “Unique Research” survey for the daily newspaper “Heute” attests the party under challenger Hans Peter Doskozil better chances in the Sunday question than with the current party leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner. If the National Council were elected now, the SPÖ with Doskozil at the top would come in first place and would achieve 31 percent of the vote. With Rendi-Wagner, on the other hand, she would only threaten third place with 24 percent.

A similar picture emerges in the theoretical direct election of the Federal Chancellor: Rendi-Wagner has 21 percent approval and once more only on the margin 3 behind the top-ranked Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) and Herbert Kickl (FPÖ). Doskozil, on the other hand, would outperform these two with 28 percent.

The survey was conducted March 20-23, with a sample of 800 respondents (phone/online). Others of the numerous candidates who have meanwhile stepped in front of the curtain were not asked because at the time the study was designed, none of them had declared themselves, as Peter Hajek from Unique Research explained when asked by APA.
