According to a new UN report, the conflict has caused the death of at least 351 civilians, including 22 children

A necessarily very partial human balance sheet. In a count published this Saturday, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) indicates that it has identified 351 civilian victims since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine last Thursday. Among these deaths are 22 children. The number of injuries recorded stands at 707.

Most of the civilian casualties were caused by “heavy artillery bombardment”, rocket launchers, “and land and air missile fire”, notes the High Commission.

“The OHCHR estimates that the actual figures are considerably higher […], especially in recent days, as the receipt of information from some places where intense hostilities took place was delayed and many reports were still waiting to be corroborated. This concerns, for example, the town of Volnovakha where hundreds of civilian casualties have been reported. »

On Wednesday, the UN said it had counted the death toll of 230 civilians in Ukraine, including 15 children, also warning that the toll was likely to be much higher.
