Accor hotels hire 12,000 temporary workers for the World Cup in Qatar

Accor Hotel Management Group is seeking to hire 12,000 temporary workers from abroad Diameterto operate 65,000 vacant rooms in housing units that will host an audience world Cup FIFA 2022, according to the company’s CEO.

Qatar is working to avoid a housing shortage during the tournament and has appointed Accor, the world’s largest hotel operator, to run the temporary operation.

That is why we are committed to employing enough people to serve them,” adding that efforts are underway in Asia, Africa, Europe and South America to hire workers. Omar Al-Jaber, director of the housing department at the Supreme Organizing Committee for the World Cup in Qatar, told reporters Tuesday that the official website for World Cup accommodation services has so far received reservations of regarding 25,000, while there are more than 100,000 rooms currently available.

Qatar hopes to attract 1.2 million visitors during the 28-day tournament in November and December.

The Gulf country has more than 30,000 hotel rooms, but 80% of these rooms have been booked collectively by FIFA for official team delegations and World Cup organizers.

Qatar also provides 4,000 rooms in two cruise ships docked in Doha Port, 1,000 tents, and rooms in pre-fabricated cabins.
