One hundred and 86 people died and 1,580 were injured as a result of 1,431 road accidents that occurred in 2023, in the province of Huíla. The information is contained in a report from the Provincial Command of the National Police, made public yesterday, in the city of Lubango, by Angop.
According to a report, compared to the same previous period, there was an increase of three deaths, 148 road accidents and 209 injuries. The note indicates the occurrence of 329 (+106) collisions between motor vehicles, 316 (+16) between motorbikes and 313 (-79) pedestrian collisions.
The lack of precaution and violation of regulations were at the basis of the disasters, the note reads. The Police indicate that during the period in question, 10 thousand 627 (+20) stop operations were also carried out on public roads, which resulted in the arrest of five thousand 912 (+50) sharp objects, drugs, as well as preventing the attempted human trafficking.
