In the case of the 19-year-old local who was first hit and then run over in Mattsee, various secured vehicle parts are now being evaluated for DNA adhesions from the victim. The police are still looking for the driver of the following vehicle that ran over the young woman who was already lying on the street.
After the death of a 19-year-old local woman in Mattsee on the night of Saturday, June 17th, intensive investigations continue. As is well known, the young woman was hit by a car on the L101 at the northern entrance to Mattsee and knocked to the ground. The 19-year-old was then run over by a following car. This is evident from the pattern of injuries (head, chest and leg injuries) diagnosed during the autopsy of her corpse.
The fact is: A 24-year-old BMW driver hit the woman with the right exterior mirror and the right side of the vehicle and then drove on. The next day he turned himself in to the police following parts of the mirror that had been seized clearly pointed to his car. The 24-year-old Innviertler testified through his lawyer that he had heard “a bang” but believed that a bird had crashed into the car.
It is also a fact that the police have been looking for a second vehicle that ran over the 19-year-old. Remarkable in this context: parts of several other vehicles were seized in the area of the accident or on the side of the road there. The motor vehicle technical expert Gerhard Kronreif had searched the accident area intensively. “It is being examined intensively whether these secured vehicle parts are directly related to the accident tragedy,” said police spokesman Hans Wolfgruber to the SN. According to reports, car parts might already be assigned to a very specific car type, the Nissan brand. Further parts are currently still being analyzed for traces and microscopically by the expert Kronreif.
Investigation into negligent homicide and abandonment of an injured person
The public prosecutor’s office (StA) is investigating, as reported, once morest the 24-year-old BMW driver and once morest a – so far unknown – other vehicle driver on suspicion of negligent homicide and abandoning an injured person (resulting in death).
According to StA spokeswoman Elena Haslinger, the prosecutor responsible for the case ordered “molecular genetic tests,” among other things. It should be regarding whether DNA traces of the victim are attached to the various car parts that have been seized. According to the investigation results already available, the 19-year-old was hit by the 24-year-old’s BMW and thrown to the ground, but was not run over by his car, but by a car that followed later.
